The awful event of the neighbors killing a family (FoxNews article ) has attracted the attention of every media.
The common perception, recurring in people's words, is that our society is getting more and more violent. I think is a wrong perception, it's just driven by mass-media. Every single brutal event gets amplified, expanded, studied, broadcasted, debated and offered to the largest possible audience, it' a matter people like to read about on newspapers, watch on TV and talk about at cafe. Human race violence has always been present, men have always killed other men, the only variable is the reason of the acts. Men killed not to starve, because of ideology, lack of ideology, religion, profit, politics, love and because of any other sociological or psychological reason.
Today everyone knows almost every violent event happening in every place of the world. Therefore we'd better not to get surprised by the murder rate, instead we should consider that thousands years of evolution have left unchanged the Neanderthal way to solve problems.
