Italy is not yet ready for racial integration, its reactions to immigration flows are stumbling and not coherent, there is not a consciousness of the problem and solutions are typically self-made and someway random. Here's an example.A small town named Arcene has decided to remove the Christian cross placed in the cemetery entrance out of respect for the non-Christian deceased and not to hit the sensitivity of non-Christian visitors. Well, I've never heard about any atheistic, Muslim, Buddhist person faint shocked in front of a Christian cross. Symbols have never killed anyone, instead of removing them we'd better add new ones. Therefore it's time to keep in touch with "other people's" symbols, to get used to see them and perhaps this will result in a better integration with "others".
Censorship of symbols is a rude and brutal tool. Moreover it can appear someway "comic", in fact in Arcene's cemetery the Christian cross should be replaced by a pretty strange little triangle-shaped "temple" resembling to some Freemasonry symbols. Grotesque.
