After the bloodshed caused in Virginia by a gunman student who shoo ted with war weapons, the debate has started again about the ease to buy weapons in the USA. George W Bush has asserted again that every American citizen has the right to own weapons, but weapons, he said, cannot be brought inside the schools. I can imagine that if the bloodshed would have happened in a tire shop then the president would have prohibited weapons to people doing the seasonal tire change; Mr.Bush is someway lucky, in fact if the fact would have taken place in a shooting range he'd have some difficult in forbidding guns...
At this moment in Italy we're discussing about the need of prohibit mobile phones to students during lessons, phones may appear less dangerous than weapons but it's only an illusion.
In fact in the long term I don't even want to think about the damages which could be caused by a generation of ignorant, impolite people grown chatting and messaging instead of listening
teachers (even the worst teacher can transmit more knowledge than a SMS session).
